The Boys Junior A Soccer team lost its final road game of the season in a 4-1 defeat at Avon Academy. After a defensive miscue put Deerfield behind in the first minutes, senior Jared Faux quickly tied the game with an assist from junior Noah Depp, starting at forward for the first time this season. Though the teams went into the halftime interval tied, the big, athletic Avon offense overpowered Deerfield in the second half, despite our squad’s strong ball control and passing. The whole team played well, though particularly strong performances by fullback Alex Strait and midfielder Taeeon Kong earned praise even from Avon’s veteran coach. Deerfield now regroups to get ready for the Williston match Saturday.
