The Big Green took on cross-town rival Bement on Wednesday. The game was competitive and both teams worked hard to create scoring opportunities. The first half saw most of the action in the midfield, but at 18:00 minute mark, Lizzie Eudy ’22 ripped a shot passed the Bement goalie to make it 1-0. Bement came back with some intensity, but strong play from defenders Lily Zeng ’22, Maddie Boger ’21, Lisa Ito-Bagshaw ’21 and Elsa Marrian ’21 held them scoreless.
The second half saw Deerfield’s intensity increase with strong play from Bri Felice ’21, Lauren and Kate Stenger ’21 in the midfield. 10:00 minutes into the half, it was Lizzie Eudy again who scored unassisted for The Big Green. Bement mounted a counter attack, but goalkeeper Gabriella Hu ’21 made the save and earned the shut out. With 1:12 left in the game, Kailey Smith ’22 sent a pass to Willow Woodward ’22 to finish the game 3-0. All in all, a competitive game that showed improved passing and shooting accuracy.
