Late Game Heroics from Keeper Tim Gerber ’17 Help the Big Green to a Third Straight Win

On a hot September afternoon, the boys in green once again overcame tough playing conditions. Having not practiced or played on turf throughout the early stages of the season, it took some getting used to. Based on the amount of success we had in the first twenty minutes of the second half, it appeared as though the Big Green had figured it out. Earning a number of corners and putting Suffield on their heels with threatening runs from strikers George Fair ’17 and Young Gun Lee ’17. Finally, after countless scoring opportunities and some big saves from the Suffield keeper, a penalty was awarded to DA after a handball from one of Suffield’s defenders. Senior Fair ’17 made no mistake, tucking the ball into the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season. With time winding down, Man of the Match and senior keeper, Tim Gerber ‘17 made numerous outstanding saves. One of which was a penalty with two minutes to go in the game to help the big green hold on for the win. The DA boys varsity soccer team is now 3-0 on the season and looks to build on their strong start this Saturday in Greenwich, CT as they take on Brunswick at 3:00 PM.
