france Enrollment Information 2024

Congratulations on being selected to travel on the France: Language and Culture program! An essential part of this program is the home stay; a French family will open their home to you, and you will have the privilege and responsibility of serving as an ambassador for Deerfield Academy. We expect that you will return to Deerfield with strengthened skills and global perspectives to share in future French classes.

    • Once you have read the resources, please contact us if you decide NOT to enroll.

1. Review Resources to Make an Informed Decision

As you and your family consider your enrollment, please consult the following resources.
  • Review updated itinerary: Visit the France Travel Program page
  • France Medical Advisory Letter for 2024 from Dr. Benson, Medical Director of Deerfield Academy
  • CDC and State Department briefings on France (A PDF of the CDC page from November 16 can be downloaded here, if you would prefer)
  • Information about International SOS, our travel medicine and security services provider
    • If you would like to speak with a medical or security professional at ISOS about the trip, please contact the CSGC.
  • Program Notes:
    • This trip conflicts with the June 1 SAT and the June 8 ACT test dates.
    • Students must commit to using French as their primary language of communication for the duration of the trip.
    • Please be aware that several segments of the trip will be unplugged, as we bond as a group and with our homestay families. Access to electronic devices and internet will be limited during this time.
    • Students will stay in hotels while traveling, and in the home of a host family. During the homestay, the majority of meals will be prepared by and shared with the homestay family.
    • Students and faculty leaders will update families and friends at home through our Notes From The Field blog.
    • Families are responsible for transporting their students from U.S.-based airport to their home destination for the summer.
