Speech & Debate sent three of its best to Bermuda to compete at the International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition, which was hosted by Bermuda High School and Saltus Grammar School. The tournament included 37 schools and 117 speakers from around the world. Over a four-day tournament, Avery ’25, Billy ’25, and Edie ’25 competed in three events. After the finals on Sunday, Edie was named parliamentary debating champion, and, as a team, Billy & Avery were named cross-examination debate champions! (Billy also finished third in parliamentary debate and second in extemporaneous speaking!) By finishing in the top American speakers overall, Avery qualified to represent the US on the national team and the world championships this spring. Congratulations to our debaters!
