Parliamentary Debating Tournament at Deerfield

On Sunday, April 30, Deerfield Academy hosted its annual Parliamentary Debating Tournament. This event, which ends the Speech & Debate season, had been virtual since 2019. It was wonderful to be live again! Representing DA on home turf, John ’26 and Myles ’25 won 1^st-place pair, with John placing 3^rd in total speaker points and Myles winning the entire novice division! Edie ’25 and David ’25 helped John and Myles secure the top spot for DA in the novice division, beating out Phillips Exeter Academy and The Hotchkiss School. Zavi ’25 and Chris ’26 showed off their pluck and grit, stepping up at the last minute to debate in the advanced division as a favor to Loomis Chaffee. A great way to end a great season!
