Jordan #2: First Impressions

Matt Dillon ’23 and Thomas Unkles ’25 describe the groups arrival at King’s Academy.

The first thing we noticed as we stepped out of the airport was the warm, dry air after having been in an airport and plane for almost 20 hours. We got into two vans and headed to King‘s Academy. It was cool to see the houses and other structures along the way. Our first impression of King’s was how big and grand it was. The buildings are intricate and well planned. We shared cool and hot Arabic dishes with Mr. Nielsen the headmaster at Kings. We had Arabic salads, grilled meat and vegetables and a dessert called um-alli. He told us about traditions he started when he was at Deerfield and we told him about new traditions. We ended the night with a card game called coup. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
