Over this summer, I have the wonderful opportunity to participate in the SMFA Tufts Pre-College program to improve my art skills while creating an art portfolio. Since art is my main form of expression, I plan on creating an art gallery that focuses on spreading awareness about mental health and the harmful stigmas that come along with certain disorders. Therefore, I will be taking the skills from Tufts’ program, executing thorough research, and actively talking to those who struggle with a specific disorder (that I decide to include in my gallery) to create my final project.
Throughout this entire process I hope to personally learn more than I already know about mental and cognitive health (for some cases, both go hand in hand), while successfully educating others on aspects of mental health they might not know about.
