Celebrating Black History: Cicely Tyson

Click here to watch Cicely Tyson, an award-winning actor who died recently at age 96, in the final scene from a film of Ernest Gaines’s novel The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman. Tyson plays a character whose life story begins in slavery and ends over 100 years later in a symbolic triumph over the Jim Crow laws in the 1960s.
