DA Speech and Debate: Victories at Loomis

On Sunday, January 17, the DA Speech & Debate team competed in their seventh tournament this season “at” Loomis Chaffee (all tournaments this year have been via Zoom—a new format for all).*

This tournament was an Oregon-style cross examination, with each team debating both sides—affirmative and negative—of the resolution: “This House believes that term limits should be imposed on Supreme Court justices.”

Emma Haddock ’21 and Tony He ’22 took 1st place for two-person team (beating Choate!).

The advanced division—represented by Emma, Tony, Elena Zhao ’22 and Andy Kim ’21—took 2nd place (right behind Choate).

Congratulations to our speakers & debaters!

*There are many more tournaments this year. Anyone interested in DA Speech & Debate should contact Coach Houston to get the Newsletter.
