Music Is Medicine

This summer 25 students were accepted in the CSGC grants program. These grants are funded due to the generous support of the Cost, Earle/Mendillo and Workman families, who established endowment funds to support the community and public service endeavors of future generations of Deerfield students. For more information on these grants please visit: https://deerfield.edu/students/grants.

After navigating through the difficulties of COVID-19 restrictions and the vulnerability of assisted living homes, I connected with Lathrop Communities Assisted Living Home in Easthampton. I have been emailing the activities director to figure out the final details for my performance Thursday, August 27. I planned, in my first blog post, to make videos, however Lathrop Communities is hosting me in person under a tent!

These past two months, I have struggled trying to find an outlet to share my music during the pandemic, through either videos or zoom, but I am extremely thankful for the chance to play in person. I hope to learn more about the science and power of music through the residents’ reactions, but on a grander scale, I hope to create joy. I can’t wait to share more about my experience when we get back to school.
