Deerfield Varsity Wrestling welcomed Belmont Hill School and Choate Rosemary Hall on Saturday, December 11 for the season-opener.
After a valiant effort against Belmont Hill, the Big Green returned to the matts to face rival Choate Rosemary.
First to the center was Kathrine Margulis ’24, who dominated her opponent, winning a 14-9 decision. Shogo O’Connor ’25 and David Peirce ’25 Jackson Collins ’23, and Hugo Nutting ’22 continued DA’s streak—Jackson pinning his opponent in 26 seconds, Hugo pinning his in 16. Cooper Pertchik ’22, Kai Darrell ’24, and Donovan Woods rounded out DA’s decisive, 45-12 victory.
Notable exhibition matches included Abigail Fernald ’22, Robbie Hua ’24, and Adeeva Alli ’25, who all pinned their opponents; Billy Tang ’25 won an 8-6 decision. Great day of grappling!
The Big Green begin their season with a 1-1 record and will return to action in 2022 on January 8 vs. Pomfret.
