Water Polo Hosts New England Championship Play-In Game

In their final game of the regular season, the boys varsity water polo team outscored Suffield in every quarter to defeat the Tigers, 17-9. With Saturday’s win the Big Green sealed the #2 seed in the New England end-of-season rankings. With the #2 seed, the Big Green secured home pool advantage for today’s New England Championship play-in game against 7th seeded Canterbury.

Chris Lee ’19 led the Big Green on Saturday registering ten of the team’s 17 goals. Henry Lowe ’19 added another six goals and Vojta Kupka ’20 also scored a goal en route to the team’s victory. In goal, Graham O’Brien recorded 12 saves to keep the Tigers in single-digit scoring.

Deerfield and Canterbury met earlier this season at the Deerfield Tri in September. In their first match-up this fall, the Big Green were victorious, edging the Saints 7-5. Entering today’s contest, the Big Green have posted a 10-5 season record and the Saint’s season record is currently, 9-5.
