Deerfield girls basketball senior captain Emma Reavis and tenth grader Claire Cummings were both named to the 2019 NEPSAC Girls Basketball All-Star team.
Emma is a three-time NEPSAC all-star and the engine of Deerfield’s team. For the past two seasons, she has led Deerfield in all major statistical categories: points, rebounds, assists and steals. In her senior season, Emma averaged 14.7 points per game, 6.4 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 3.4 steals per game. She uses her basketball IQ and impressive court vision on both ends of the floor. Offensively, Emma can always be counted on to thread the needle and find the open player on the court, while also using crafty moves to get to the rim and score. Defensively, she is able to anticipate many passes and turn steals into points. She is a true all-around threat who will continue her basketball career at Brandeis University next year. Good luck, Emma!
Claire, a first-time all-star, has been an integral part of the Deerfield girls’ basketball team for the past two seasons. Only a sophomore, she is a force in the paint on both sides of the ball. Offensively, Claire finishes hard at the rim, and defensively, she can always be counted on to crash the boards hard. She is a great presence in the paint and is a tough matchup for opponents. As a forward, Claire averaged 8.8 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game this season.
This season, the girls basketball team posted an 11-11 record; advancing to the NEPSAC Class A Championship semifinals.
Congratulations to the girls basketball team on their amazing season!
