Girls Water Polo Opens Season with Road Victory

The Big Green girls varsity water polo team opened their 2022 spring season with a win on the road over Exeter, 10-6.

Deerfield took an early 2-0 lead in the first frame. The squad doubled their goals scored in the second period and allowed only two Exeter goals. At the end of the second frame, the score was 6-2 in favor of Deerfield.

The Big Green netted two goals in each of the final frames to round out their goals scored in the game to ten for the victory.

Natalie Zneimer ‘23 led the Big Green scoring with four goals. Lauren Smith ’24 and Darcy Del Real ’22 each scored two goals each. Katie Lawrence ’22 and Chelsea Antero ’23 both added a goal to the scoreline.

In goal for the Big Green, Annabelle Martin ’24 made 13 saves. Deerfield will return to action this Saturday, April 9 in their home opener against Greenwich Academy and Andover at 1:30pm and 3:30pm respectively. The game will be available to watch via livestream.
