As announced yesterday by NEPSAC, the Deerfield varsity field hockey team earned the #6 seed in the Class A Championship bracket. In the opening round quarterfinal game, the Big Green will travel to Greenwich, CT to face #3 ranked Convent of the Sacred Heart. Game time is set for 2:15pm.
This season, the Big Green posted a 12-2-1 regular season record, registering 57 goals so far while only conceding 14. Averaging 3.8 goals per game and a 0.9 goals against average.
The Big Green and the Sacred Heart Tigers have not met prior to Wednesday’s upcoming contest however, they have shared several common opponents this season including; Taft, Westminster, Loomis, Hotchkiss, Greenwich Academy, and Choate. Most recently, Sacred Heart edged the Wild Boars 5-0 while, the Big Green concluded their regular season game schedule, with an impressive 8-0 victory over rival Choate in Wallingford, CT. The Doors will enter post-season play on a two-game winning streak.
