Doors of the Week

Congratulations to this week’s Doors of the Week!

Girls Thirds Volleyball: Bonnie Pang
The DOTW for 3rds volleyball is Bonnie Pang.  Bonnie is always a hard worker on the court.  She is a great leader to her teammates and is always encouraging to the younger players.  Bonnie also took it upon herself to thoughtfully bring snacks to practice celebrating her teammates’ birthdays.

Boys Cross-Country: Griffin Haisman ’25
The XC team’s Door of the Week is Griffin Haisman ’25, who absolutely crushed his job as the mile-mark timekeeper. He was present for the start of each race, then raced the runners on his bicycle so that he could read off mile and two mile times to all of the competitors as they raced. His attention to detail and commitment to the task significantly helped the runners, and the team is grateful for his effort.

Varsity Field Hockey: Lilly Oliver ‘26
Lilly Oliver ’26 is the varsity FH DOTW. Lilly came out firing in our game against Berkshire on Saturday and earned her first hat-trick in her career as a Door. She also added an assist in our 4-0 win against Pomfret on Wednesday. Lilly works hard and brings tremendous enthusiasm and intensity to the field. She is a great player and leader, and we look forward to her strong play throughout the fall!

Boys Jr. B Soccer: Vail Brokaw
Our DOTW is Vail Brokaw. In his first game for Deerfield, Vail scored two goals, including the game-winner, against Bement and had a strong game overall at striker.

Boys Water Polo: Will Van Nice ’24
Returning to a sport he played several years ago, Will Van Nice ’24 has cheerfully moved between practicing with the youngest players and competing with the experienced ones as he regains his comfort in the water.  He’s demonstrating a quality that his fellow players and coaches value, which is the willingness to help the team in any way possible. To everyone’s delight, he also scored two goals in this week’s contest against Loomis.

Girls Varsity Soccer: Avery Izzo ’24
Avery spearheaded a defense that allowed zero goals in the run of play on Wednesday against Westminster. She raised the level of communication and expectations from the back line. Go Avery!

Varsity Football: Xavier Aviles ’24
Xavier Aviles is the football team’s Door of the Week. In their opening game at Williston he led an impressive defensive effort that held the opposition to 10 points. Xavier was matched up with some very talented receivers all game and made big play after big play in coverage and also securing some big tackles. We are fired up to watch Xavier continue to lead as the season continues.

JV Volleyball: Ariana Djunic ’26
Ariana Djunic ‘26 is killing the ball this season. In both our opening games, Ariana has been in position, active at the net, and showcasing an ability to effectively place the ball with deep tips and big swings. In practice, she is focused and fun—a winning combination—and her coachability is impressive and exciting.

Varsity Volleyball: Georgia Ball
The Door of the Week for varsity volleyball goes to Georgia Ball. Ball joined the varsity volleyball team after 2 years on JV. Since stepping on the court this year she has been a vital member of the team. She is always upbeat and ready to work hard to get better. Ball will be one of the 2 starting outsides for our season opener this weekend.

Go Big Green!
