Doors of the Week

Congratulations to our first spring 2021 Doors of the Week! Thank you for all your hard work and supporting your teams on the start of your seasons!

Girls Varsity Rowing: Chrissy James ’24 and Elizabeth Richards ’24
In this first week of rowing, Chrissy has jumped all in.  Though she doesn’t have much team experience and has never rowed, it’s clear that she is committed to discovering her athleticism.  Tackling new and uncomfortable activities with a smile, she has shown levels of bravery and determination that make her an example for our squad.  We are lucky she chose rowing and are excited to see where the sport takes her!

Elizabeth never fails to encourage her teammates to keep pushing with maximum effort. She is a leader who cheers on her peers even when they are struggling, keeping them going with hype and smiles. Her optimistic attitude is doing wonders for the team; playing a sport can be difficult, but when you have someone who is a literal ray of sunshine you cannot help but want to smile yourself and keep on pushing.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse: Emma Kahle ’22
The girls Varsity Lax Door of the Week is Emma Kahle.  Emma has approached the start of the season with a high level of commitment, positivity, and just the right level of competitive spirit.  Her tenacious style of play reveals great promise for her future career as a low defender in the Deerfield lacrosse program.

Girls JV Lacrosse: Eve Andon ’23
Eve Andon ‘23 has been a focused and energetic member of our team early on this season. She brings determination and intensity to each drill. She has a quick shot and we are excited to see her competitive energy on the field in games to come! Keep it up, Eve!

Varsity Baseball: Kevin Griffin ’21 & Sam Mackenzie ’21
The Varsity boys baseball program is happy to name two seniors, Kevin Griffin and Sam Mackenzie, as our Doors of the Week. Kevin and Sam, are three-year varsity players that have contributed to all aspects of the program – from practices to games to team spirit. Their daily positive energy and enthusiasm has been infectious. Kevin and Sam consistently put team goals ahead of individual achievements. Kevin, a tireless worker, makes every rep count in practice and is a versatile middle infielder. Sam, steady and experienced, has hit the ball really well in batting practice thus far, has played a solid 1st base, and has volunteered to add depth at the catcher position as a backup.

Girls JV Tennis: Kylie Kittredge ’22, Coco da Vink ’22 & Ainslie Kell ’23
DOTW goes to our recently elected co-captains: Kylie Kittredge, Coco da Vink, and Ainslie Kell. Kylie has been a reliable communicator and was kindly willing to play with a newcomer for a late tryout. She has been leading by example in all the match play and drills, gracious in victory and defeat. Coco fought hard to make the team and brings wonderful blend of tenacity and sweetness. She has spoken up for the team on several occasions. Ainslie brings buoyant energy and strong play, recently taking over the top spot on our ladder. She will challenge and support everyone as they work to improve their game. I am excited that our team selected this wonderful trio of leaders.

Girls Varsity Water Polo: Sydney Bluestein ’21, Ruby Chase ’21 & Maddie Poole ’21
Seniors Sydney Bluestein, Ruby Chase, and Maddie Poole have welcomed a host of younger teammates to the pool and have encouraged the novices as they learn a demanding new sport.  With good cheer and patient support, the leaders have carried on the team’s tradition of having the veterans prepare the newcomers for future success.

Boys JV Lacrosse: Adaugo Nwaokoro ’24 & Ileanna Pena ’24
The boys JV lacrosse Doors of the Week are our two managers, Adaugo Nwaokoro and Ileanna Pena.  They have been instrumental in our early season success with their energy, accountability and organization.  Adaugo and Ileanna have brought energy through their musical playlists as well as going above and beyond in their support of their teammates.  We are fortunate to have such dedicated members of this years squad.

Girls Varsity Track & Field: Jaxon Palmer ’21
Girls Track and Field is off to a great start this season and that is in no small part due to one of the captains, Jaxon Palmer. From the beginning of the season, she has been a positive and thoughtful member of the squad. She can always be found working her hardest and inspiring others to do the same. This past weekend, she unofficially broke her own school record with a 110-foot javelin throw. We are excited to see what else she accomplishes this the season. Congrats, Jaxon!”

Boys Varsity Track & Field: Quinton Stevens ’21
Quinton Stevens, one of our captains, may have missed a week of training with an injury, but it didn’t stop him from helping new long jumpers and triple jumpers find their marks and get the rhythm of their run-ups. Quinton was there with tape and a rake, keeping the jumping pits ready and the jumpers on track. Great Track & Field community spirit, Quinton!

Varsity Softball: Morgan Moriarty ’22
Morgan Moriarty is our Door of the Week. She hustles to every ball, asks great question, supports her teammates, connects at the plate and is going to anchor the outfield. Morgan gives 100% to each drill. She’s a superstar.

Go Big Green!
