Congratulations to this week’s Doors of the Week!
Boys Cross-Country: Liam Walker ’27 and Mark Brennan ’28
The doors of the week for boys cross county are Liam Walker and Mark Brennan. Liam earns the door for his work ethic and his first top 3 finish overall, and Mark earns his door for his consistent work ethic and executing a perfect threshold race after setting a big personal best the week before.
Varsity Field Hockey: Lilly Oliver ’26
This week’s DOTW for VFH is Lilly Oliver ’26. Since the beginning of the season, Lilly has been a crucial part of our team’s offense and defense as the midfield link between the two. This past week was one of Oliver’s strongest, coming up with huge plays in our contests against NMH (1 goal), St. Paul’s School (1 goal) and Loomis (2 goals). Most notably in our game against Loomis, Lilly scored our final goal in regulation time before heading into OT. With a little over 2 minutes remaining, she had a beautiful reverse hit that earned us a hard-fought win against a talented Loomis team. We look forward to Lilly’s continued successes as we head into the second half of our season.
Girls Thirds Soccer: Zara Ali ‘27
The Girls thirds soccer team is proud to announce Zara Ali ‘27 as DOTW this week. She always puts her best foot forward despite hard times, demonstrating perseverance. Zara is always willing to contribute useful ideas and strategies to improve the team’s play, a true team player. Every day at practice she is working just as hard as she does during a game, she is always motivated. Zara is a role model for her teammates. She is a true Door!
Theater: William Wichern ‘27
Reliable, prepared and always ready to dig into work, William, you are our Door of the Week! You memorized lines swiftly, which has given you time to explore your complicated character in “The Crucible”. Jovial, and consistently sweet natured you and kind are an excellent ensemble member because you manage to not take yourself too seriously, but seriously enough to get the job done well. Always on hand to help, it is your rock solid dependability that makes you stand out from your peers. Bravo William!
Girls Cross-Country: Elizabeth Kelly ‘26
Girls Cross Country nominates Elizabeth Kelly as Door of the Week! EK finished her very first 5k of the year this past Friday. Although she was very nervous and wasn’t sure if she was prepared, she finished 2nd for Deerfield! This came as a surprise for her, but no one on the team was surprised with her impressive finish because she shows her teammates each day in practice how much of a driven, dedicated, and successful athlete she is. She brings a lively attitude to practice each day and although she isn’t one to win the theme contest, she always brings a great outfit with her. Elizabeth is an indispensable aspect to our team, and we don’t know what we will do without her next year!
Boys Jr. A Soccer: Owen Fleck ’26
A rookie in Deerfield’s soccer program as a junior, Owen could have felt awkward and out of place. Instead, he showed grit, commitment, and professionalism from tryouts on. When it came time to choose captains, Owen made that decision easy for his coaches. Even more impressive, he didn’t grumble one bit when we lost several key defenders to injury early in the season and needed his help in the back. Owen loves playing offense, but for him the team comes first. On Wednesday, when we got one of those players back, Owen finally got to play up and rewarded the team with two goals in our big win over Westminster. We look forward to his continued leadership and offensive highlights!
JV Field Hockey: Esther Lee ’25
Esther Lee has been a key member of the JV Field Hockey team this fall. Esther may not be considered loud off the field, but in her role as defensive sweep, her voice is critical. Her teammates depend on her vocal leadership to help them work together. In a recent game, for example, we took Esther off the field to let some other players try their hand at sweep. Not long after the switch, team members quickly requested she be put back in, not only because of her solid defensive skills, but for her clear communication and organizational savvy. When on the sideline, Esther can be counted on to cheer for her teammates. She has a big heart, which shows daily in her small talk with her peers and her tactful and patient support of new players. We are very fortunate to have Esther on our team.
Girls JV Volleyball: Kingsley Carolan ‘25
Senior Captain Kingsley Carolan continues to shine on the JV court. She is a steady presence in the back row giving our setter consistent passes. Against a tough Hotchkiss team, she clocked multiple digs. Often called the “serving specialist” by her teammates, Kingsley can be counted on for her consistent serve often sent to a difficult spot on the court. In a tough game against Cushing, she served three aces, which helped the team win the third set of the match. Kingsley also showed leadership when she went out of her comfort zone in that game and played all the way around tallying an impressive kill from the front row!
Boys Jr. B Soccer: Marty Rodriguez Pastor ’28
The Quad Squad Door of the Week is Marty Rodriguez Pastor, ‘The Pen Taker’! Marty has shown tremendous growth this season, becoming a key part of our offense. His ability to both score goals and make great assists has been a big part of our success. Marty’s field awareness continues to improve, making him an even more formidable presence on the pitch. Off the field, his positive attitude makes him an easy pick as our DOTW this week!
Girls JV Soccer: Kiely Kinchla ’28
While Kiely Kinchla ’28 has spent much of the season dealing with injury, she remains a consistent and helpful presence at practices. Helping to set up drills, chasing down errant shots, and offering insights to coaches during both practices and games, she’s a model example of how to make the most of the season when injuries prevent contributions on the field!
Varsity Volleyball: Sophie Kamil ’26
DOTW this week for varsity volleyball goes to Sophie Kamil ’26. Sophie has been a continuous source of energy for the team this year. Whether she is on the bench, running a quick hit out of the middle, or in the back row she is always getting the team fired up. She always wants the ball when the game is on the line. Her serving accuracy is among the best on the team, and her back row play is among the best for middles in the league. Congratulations Sophie.
Girls Varsity Soccer: Allie Corrieri ‘25
This week, the girls varsity soccer team recognizes Allie Corrieri ’25 as their Door of the Week. As one of the team’s tri-captains this season, Allie leads with passion, work ethic, and sincere care for others on a daily basis. She’s anchored the team’s backline from our first practice and she has grown with every challenge and adversity thrown her way. In doing so, she has also shown care and concern for her teammates while simultaneously pushing them. Allie does it all on the field from serving free kicks to initiating our attack and thwarting off opponents opportunities to score. Allie is all heart all the time! We are so grateful to have Allie on and helping to lead our team this season! Go Allie!
