In their home opener of the 2021 season, the Big Green football team were victorious over the visiting Suffield Tigers, 33-13.
Deerfield quarterback Liam O’Brien ‘22 had a season high three touchdown passes. Two of these touchdown passes went to Geoffrey Jamiel ‘22 and one to Wedner Cadet ‘22.
In addition to his offensive responsibilities, Cadet also played every snap on defense and defended some key passes.
Nick Peltekian ‘22 and Matt Hickey ’22 each contributed a touchdown to round out the scoring by Deerfield.
On defense, Ty Curran had three pass break ups in the game. Collectively, the Big Green defense recorded four sacks by four different players including: Sekou Roland ’22, Christian Reavis ’23, Henry Foster ’22, and Cooper DeMallie ’22.
The kickoff team held Suffield to bad field position all day due in large part to the kicking of Stone Anderson ’23.
With the victory, Deerfield improves to 3-0 and will return to action this Saturday, October 9 at 3:00pm at Salisbury School. Tune in to support the team on Salisbury’s livestream.
