Boys Rowing Captures Crown at Founder’s Day Regatta

It was a full day of racing for the Big Green at the 60th Annual Founder’s Day Regatta hosted by the Gunnery School on Sunday, May 5 on Lake Waramaug in New Preston, CT. Seven Deerfield boys crews earned a berth into the final afternoon races through the morning heats.

The boys 1V won their final race for the gold medal, edging the boat from Belmont Hill by three seconds at the finish line. The boys 2V boat followed suit, also winning their championship race by six seconds over second place, Kent.

Silver medals were earned by the 3v and 5v boats while, the boys 4v finished in third in their final race.

The novice races were comprised of final races only. In the second novice final race, the Big Green crossed the finish line in first place and the third novice race crew captured second place in their race.

Additionally, the team earned the team championship trophy at the event, marking the second consecutive year that the team has captured the trophy.

Up next, the boys varsity rowing team will travel to the Middlesex Paumgarten Boathouse to race against Middlesex and Nobles this Saturday, May 11. Races are set to start at 2:00pm.
