The varsity baseball team furthered its current winning streak with a recent 6-2 victory over visiting Worcester, extending their current winning streak to six games.
With Saturday’s win the Big Green moved into first place in the Central New England League.
Against Worcester, SP Ryan McHugh ’23 improved his record to 5-1 with a sharp pitching performance where he allowed 9 hits, 2 ER, struck out 6 and walked no batters. McHugh also had a good day at the plate going 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Sam Chutkow ’22 had a big two run single in the bottom half of the 4th inning after Worcester took a 2-1 lead in the top half of the same inning.
Tynan Creagh ’22 went 2-4 and scored 2 runs and 1 SB.
Previous wins contributing to the Big Green streak have come over Cushing, a doubleheader at Exeter, Choate and Dexter-Southfield.
Furthermore, the Big Green have made their way back into the New England Baseball Journal rankings at the #10 spot.
Up next, the Big Green will travel to #2 ranked Andover on Saturday, May 14 for a doubleheader. First pitch of game one is slated for 12:30pm.
