McMahon-Serpone joined the Big Green in fall 2022, where she leads our girl’s lacrosse team and works in the Athletics Department as an Associate Athletic Director. She came to Deerfield from UMass-Amherst where she served as the head coach for women’s lacrosse for twelve seasons. During her tenure at UMass, McMahon-Serpone was named the A-10 Coach of the Year seven times and led the program to eight Atlantic 10 Tournament titles, 11 regular season conference crowns, and nine berths to the NCAA Tournament. Prior to leading the Minutewomen, she was the University of Connecticut head coach in 2008-10 after two years as an associate head coach at UMass. Her coaching career began at Bentley University as head coach from 2005-06. Additionally, she was the inaugural head coach of the Italian National Team that placed 11th in the 2017 World Championship in England, and served as an assistant for the U.S. National Team which won gold at the 2019 U19 World Championship in Canada. During her collegiate career, McMahon-Serpone served as a two-time captain in lacrosse at Northwestern University (’04), and earned a master’s in Sports Leadership from Northeastern University (’12). She is married to Justin Serpone, head coach for men’s soccer at Amherst College, and they reside in Simmons dorm with their three children, Lily, Tyson, and Annabelle.
