Washington D.C. #9: Phoenix Suns at Washington Wizards

Sophia Burke ’23, shares an entertaining experience.

We had the amazing opportunity to attend a Wizards basketball game during our stay in D.C. We left for Chinatown on Saturday evening and got to explore the city around the Capital One Arena. After getting some fantastic food we assembled in front of the arena. Once inside, the game was super entertaining and there was tons of back and forth play.

Here are my opinions about the teams and why the Wizards lost:

– The Suns set the tone of the game straight off the tip off;
– the Suns drove the ball hard to score baskets and they sank each shot;
– and, the Wizards defense couldn’t defend against the well organized play coming from the Suns.
At one point the game was 38-70 with the Wizards trailing, but because they were scrappy they managed to close the gap leaving the Suns with a 15 point lead for a final score of 95-80 in favor of the Suns.

It was also amazing to hear from some alumni who watched the game with us about college life and their experiences at Deerfield. It was a great way to spend Saturday night. I would also like to express how grateful I am to Mr. Flaska, Ms. LaPuma and Mr. Lim for helping make the event possible!
