This morning, 12 students, Emma Coffin, Toby Emerson, and Julie Schloat departed from Deerfield’s campus to start making their way to Tanzania. For this trip, students will partner with Mainsprings: Janada Batchelor Foundation for Children to focus on understanding sustainable development. Students will engage with all aspects of Mainsprings, JBFC’s mission: refuge for abused and abandoned girls, education, healthcare, and agriculture. There will be a two-day safari, and the bulk of the trip will be spent on the Mainspring’s site in Kitongo with students digging into academically informed and partially student-designed service projects.
We look forward to reading their stories on The Bulletin or on the Notes From Abroad site where you will find blogs from all four of our March Travel Programs.
