Despite the cold temperatures, Keitaro Fukuda ‘24 and Gunnar Moore ‘25, recount a day of swimming, bowling, site seeing, and Winter Carnival attractions.
Third day of five in Quebec. The high temperature in Quebec was -10 ℉ plus an even colder wind-chill, which tells you all you need to know about our day today. We started the day by going to the hotel pool and bowling after. It took us a while to get used to bowling, but by the end many of us got the hang of it and we were able to bond with each other. After commiserating over our shared frustrations with bowling, we were able to eat at Tim Hortons – a classic Canadian coffee and donut shop.
Personally, this was one thing I was really looking forward to. After eating enough donuts to feed a small family, we went back to the hotel to warm up and put on some warmer clothes before going to La Citadelle de Québec, which was a fortress built in 1850 to prevent an attack from the Americans on Quebec. It was extremely beautiful, yet also very cold. After visiting La Citadelle de Québec we went to the Winter Carnival. There were many attractions such as ice climbing and an ice castle which we could walk around.
