Deerfield’s Residential Life education is rooted in the Community Pledge, which means that we have conversation centered on care, respect, and integrity. Once a term, students in the dorm engage in discussions or activities that allow them to reflect on these characteristics and ask them to think about their relationship with others both within the Deerfield community and beyond. We seek to have these events at the right time in the year when the students can fully digest the information.
In that spirit, in the spring of senior year, the members of the graduating class participate in the Transition to College series. This is a 3 series workshop to help them think about what new experiences they will face once they have left the Valley. By bringing back young alums to talk about their college experiences, to talking about health and wellness issues in college, we seek to increase awareness for seniors of what their next adventure may bring.
