Yoonsa ’25, supports her local library by “connecting local young musicians” through a music concert series.
Public libraries are an integral part of any community. Libraries offer free access to various educational resources and host events for all ages. The Jones Library, located in Amherst, MA, has launched an ambitious renovation plan and is raising funds for the construction. Last summer, with the support of Workman Grant, I launched a youth benefit concert series called “Tutti” to connect and inspire young musicians while giving back to my local public library. I hosted four concerts between June and December 2023 and am continuing the concert series for the second season.
As a musician and avid reader, I plan to give back to the community by supporting the library and connecting local young musicians. Since my preschool musician years, I’ve greatly enjoyed performing in many community venues such as a local children’s museum, a children’s hospital, as well as my state’s capital. I aim to connect youth musicians under this spirit of togetherness to perform for a good cause.
I hosted the fifth Tutti concert on June 8, which featured seven performers. I accompanied the younger musicians on viola and performed additional solo repertoire. We performed compositions by Bach, Boccherini, Vivaldi, Schumann and more. During this concert, we raised a total of $220 to support the Jones Library’s renovation plan.
My next concert will take place on August 31.
