Kingsley ’25 learns the importance of flexibility and patience when collaborating with others.
I think this project has really taught me flexibility. I worked really hard to plan each aspect of the grant and worked through every detail and dollar spent, so I found it hard to be flexible with a plan that I so tediously constructed. I found communication a huge challenge throughout this project because of the timing. I worked alongside an elementary school teacher and elementary school students to attain the works that were needed for the competition, but because it was the middle of the summer, I found it difficult to communicate. Especially because I was doing my project through a public school, it was really hard to stay in contact with the teacher who was organizing everything with me. I think it was frustrating at times because while I had a plan and timeline, the project could not be solely moved forward by me. Overall, I think this project has really taught me initiative and patience.
