Deerfield has earned an invitation to the 2013 New England Prep School Athletic Council Field Hockey Tournament! The Big Green, which posted a 10-4-2 record this fall, drew the sixth seed in the eight-team tourney and will square off against third seed Greenwich Academy (17-1-0) in quarterfinal round action at Greenwich on Wednesday.
The game will begin at 2:15 p.m.
The other three quarterfinal round games will find top-seeded Nobles playing host to eighth-ranked Loomis, while second-ranked Hotchkiss entertains seventh-seed Taft. Fifth-ranked Andover, meanwhile, will travel to Westminster. The semifinal round will be played on Saturday at the home of the higher seed. Sunday’s championship game will be played at Choate, beginning at 11:00 am.
Greenwich, the defending NEPSAC champs, and Deerfield crossed paths earlier this month during the regular season and the Gators prevailed with a 2-1 decision.
“We’re excited about making the tournament and we’re excited about playing an opponent such at Greenwich … it’ll be a real challenge,” said Big Green Coach Kristen Veiga.
