Three Boys Soccer Players Receive Post-Season Awards

At the conclusion of the 2018 fall season, three boys varsity soccer players – Young Gun Lee ’19, Jackson Pitcher ’19, and Luca Antongiovanni ’20 – received post-season recognition for their efforts this season. Young Gun was named to the Western New England Prep School Soccer Association All-Star team and Jackson and Luca were awarded New England Prep School Soccer Association Senior and Junior All-Star status respectively.

Young Gun (“YG”) Lee was named a WNEPSSA All-Star, and had the opportunity to play in an all-star match alongside the best players in western New England two Sundays ago (11/11) at Loomis.  A speedy and tricky winger, Young Gun has been a key member of a dynamic attacking group that has helped the boys varsity soccer team score more goals than the team has scored in any of the previous six seasons.  Young Gun has scored 10 goals and notched 4 assists.  Those include a hat-trick tallied against Wilbraham in the first half of last week’s home match.  And eight of the nine PKs the team was awarded this season came from fouls committed against Young Gun in the box — which suggests just how much difficulty Young Gun has posed to the opposition. Well done, YG!

Jackson Pitcher was named a NEPSSA Senior All-Star, and had the opportunity to play in the All-New England All-Star Game on Sunday, November 18 at Middlesex School.  A four-year varsity soccer player and two-time captain, Jackson developed into one of the most effective defenders in the region.  Throughout the season he proved himself a tenacious, reliable defender who read and snuffed out attack after attack and cleared confidently to launch the DA counterattack.  Congratulations on a well-deserved honor!

Luca Antongiovanni was named a NEPSSA Junior All-Star, and had the opportunity to play in the All-New England All-Star Game on Sunday, November 18 at Middlesex School.  A first-year junior from Vancouver, BC, Luca immediately made his mark this season as a talented, competitive attacker who tormented opposing defenders and combined well with his teammates to help lead Boys’ Soccer to its highest-scoring season in many years.  At the close of the season Luca’s teammates elected him co-captain for the 2019-20 season. Looking forward to Luca’s impact on the field during his senior season! Congrats!

This season the boys varsity soccer team posted a 5-8-5 overall record. Ending their season tying rival Choate 1-1 in Wallingford, CT.

Congratulations YG, Jackson & Luca!

Go Big Green!
