POSTPONED: Class A Alpine Ski Championships to Thursday, 2/14

The boys and girls varsity alpine ski teams will have to wait another day for the 2019 Class A Alpine Ski Championships at Mount Sunapee.  The event, originally scheduled for tomorrow, February 13th, has been postponed 24-hours to Thursday, February 14th due to the impending snow storm. The racing schedule will remain the same.

To date this season, the team has participated in five Mt. Institute Ski League races; with individual skiers and both Deerfield teams finishing on the podium after at each event. In the team standings, Deerfield boys lead second place NMH by five points and the Deerfield girls only trail first-place NMH by three points.

Individually, all of the Big Green boy skiers are ranked in the top-20 for points scored: #2 Tie – Axel Mattson (312), # 4 – Tait Kline (302), # 6 – Alexander Grosse (284), # 7 – JP Patton (283), #8 – Nick Baker (275), #12 – Achille Sarachek (251), # 15 – Granger Savage (224), and # 17 – Garrett Alexander (216).

In the girls’ rankings, Kikka Guidice leads the way for the Big Green and all MISL competitors in first place with 220 points, she is followed in fifth place by teammate Chloe Monte (188). Valerie Hetherington is in ninth place with 171 points and Madeline Carey is in 11th place with 168 points. After missing some races, FJ Marsh is in 27th and Maddie McCarthy is 32nd place.

At the 2018 Class A Championships, the boys team finished in 10th place and the girls team captured bronze with their third place finish.
