Maddie Chai ’17 and Cameron Munn ’17 Win Team Gold at the 2016 Pan American Junior Squash Championships

Deerfield’s Maddie Chai ’17 and Cameron Munn ’17 win gold in team squash competition at the Junior Pan American Games at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.

The team of 4 including; Mariam Kamal, Grace Doyle, Maddie Chai, and Cameron Munn, won their pool earning a bye through the round of 16. They defeated Argentina 3-0 in the quarterfinal matches and went on to defeat Ecuador 2-0 in the semifinals. The team faced Mexico in the final and went to defeat Mexico 2-1 to earn the gold medal. The team’s overall record for the tournament was 13-1.

Also in Junior Pan American Games action, Maddie and Cameron competed together in the doubles event where they advanced to the quarterfinals. Furthermore, the girls competed in the singles tournament where Cameron advanced to the round of 16 and Maddie advanced to the quarterfinals.
