The Deerfield Girls Varsity Cross Country team finally sealed the deal on a perfect regular season record by defeating St. Paul’s (varsity 20 to 38, jv 18 to 38) and Northfield Mount Hermon (varsity 15 to 48, jv 16 to 38) on Saturday in Northfield. The team now holds an overall record of 7-0 heading into championship weekend.
In Saturday’s meet, DA finishers included: Victoria Patterson ‘20, Noelle Abeyta ‘21, Erin Hudson ‘18, Sarah Jane O’Connor ‘18, Helen Downes ‘18, Esme Benjamin ‘20, Grace Russell ‘21, Nora Markey ’18, Gemma Bishop ‘19, Sofie Sintes ‘18, Ely Burke ‘19, Roopa Venkatraman ’18, Acy Cai ‘20, and Jazmine Ramos ‘20.
All season along, the DA girls have demonstrated an incredible work ethic and an unmatched tenacity for taking on challenging workouts. This team possesses an indescribable family spirit that has carried them through the truly challenging times.
The Big Green will look to cap off their historic season with a win at the New England Championships on Saturday, November 11th at Choate Rosemary Hall. At last year’s New England Championships at Phillips Exeter Academy, the Big Green finished 3rd overall.
