Varsity volleyball defeated rival Choate Rosemary Hall 3-2 on Choate Day 2019! With the win, the varsity volleyball team extended their current win streak to five-games and improved their overall regular season record to 13-5-0. The Big Green secured the #5 seed in the 2019 NEPSAC Girls Volleyball Championships Class A bracket. In the opening quarterfinal match-up on Wednesday, 11/13/19, the Big Green defeated #4 seeded Andover on the road in five sets: 21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 13-25, 15-5. Advancing to the semifinals, the Big Green fell to the #1 ranked and eventual 2019 NEPSAC champions, Phillips Exeter.
At the conclusion of the season, the varsity volleyball team posted a 14-6-0 record. The 2019 team etched their names in the Deerfield record books with their 14 win season, marking the first time since 2007 that the varsity volleyball team posted a 14 win season. In 2007, the team went 14-3 and advanced to the NEPSAC Championship semifinals. The 2007 fall season also marked the last time that the volleyball team defeated Choate, 3-1! Lots of history made by this year’s girls varsity volleyball team and their coaches!
