Each season at the start of the month of July the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association publishes the official list of the fastest 100 athletes from public and private schools as determined by time in each of the 11 high school swimming events. This season four Deerfield swimmers made the All American list in four events! Liza Bragg ’13 and Jenner McLeod ’13 qualified in one individual event each in addition to the two freestyle relays. Liza’s 100 backstroke time of 56.20 ranked 90th in the nation, while Jenner’s 50 freestyle time of 23.67 squeezed her in at 99th. The 400 freestyle relay team with co-captain Ritchey Howe ’12 as lead-off followed by Bragg, Julie Hwang ’13, and anchored by McLeod ranked 89th with a time of 3:31.49 and the same fab four ranked 28th in the nation with their 200 freestyle relay time of 1:35.65! Each of these swims garnered New England champion titles, with both relays establishing the New England record for the third season in a row. By the end of the winter season, the team reset a total of nine of the twelve school records, including Danielle DeNunzio’s ’12 diving record. Well done!
