Deerfield Rowing Advances to 2017 US Rowing National Youth Championship Finals

The Deerfield girls and boys boats both qualified today for final races at the 2017 US Rowing National Youth Championship held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, FL.

This morning both the girls and boys boats qualified in their time trials for the semifinals which took place this afternoon. In their respective time trials, the girls and boys boat each finished in 3rd place earning them a spot in the 12-boat field of the semifinalists.

First up in the semifinals, the girls competed from their first stroke to last. They posted a gutsy team performance and rowed hard as a part of the lead group from start to finish but were slightly edged at the finish line and finished in 4th place with a time of 7:02.793. Only the top three boats in each semifinal advanced to the Grand Final. The girls will now compete for the B Final title on Sunday at 1:40pm.

The boys’ boat was placed in the second heat of their semifinal event and they made no mistake by taking hold of the lead in their race from start to finish, advancing to the Grand Final on Sunday at 10:24am and will compete for the National title!
