Deerfield Boys Track: New England Champions

Congratulations to the boys’ track and field team, who brought home the New England Championship for the first time in school history!¬† Entering the meet predicted to finish 4th, the entire boys’ team rallied and outperformed expectations in every event. It was a remarkable team effort: Deerfield’s boys improved on their pre-meet seed in every single event and defeated an incredibly strong Loomis Chaffee team by a mere 2 points. While every point and performance matters in such a meet, the day ended with a dramatic finish as Deerfield’s 4x400m relay team came from behind to defeat the top-seeded team from Loomis Chaffee; entering the relay, Deerfield and Loomis were tied overall, so the victory sealed Deerfield’s first New England championship since the NEPSTA meet began, 73 years ago.
