Boys Varsity Lacrosse Prevails in Thriller at Brunswick

Yesterday, the Big Green prevailed over host school Brunswick in the hugely anticipated boys varsity lacrosse match up between the two ranked schools.

The Doors jumped ahead to an early 9-5 lead in the first half. The Bruins cut the goal differential in half by halftime, 9-7.

In the third quarter with their effective transitions, the Bruins evened the score, 9-9. The Big Green quickly responded with their offensive half field sets and reclaimed the lead, 11-9.

From this point, the two teams traded goals. At the final whisthle the Big Green prevailed for the 12-11 victory!

In a classic lacrosse game of each team exchanging runs, the Big Green offense commanded the first half of the game, while the defense led by senior goalie Michael Scharfenberger with 16 saves led the way in the second half of the game to seal the team’s fifth win of the season.

Following yesterday’s contest, the Big Green remained ranked at #2 in the Northeast according to this week’s Inside Lacrosse Week #6 rankings.

Up next, the Big Green will take on Avon Old Farms at home on Saturday, May 8 at 2pm on Jim Smith field. Tune in to watch the action on livestream.

Go Big Green!
