Yesterday, 6 Big Green teams traveled to their respective away contests and all of those teams returned to Deerfield with victories in hand. Deerfield teams went 6-0 in away contests and 7-2 overall in their Wednesday contests. It was a great day to be Big Green!
Girls varsity and JV tennis lead the way by each earning convincing 7-0 wins over the Suffield Tigers. Winning every match, the girls played with patience and control. They were dominant in both the singles and doubles matches.
Also on the road yesterday, JV Baseball earned 12 early runs and Henry Renelus pitched a shutout to earn the win over Cushing 12-0.
Boys varsity lacrosse had a long 3-hour bus ride to Trinity-Pawling, but the boys came off the bus ready to play as they went up 4-0 over the Pride in the first 3 minutes of play. The team further extended their lead to 11-2 by the final whistle.
Girls varsity and JV lacrosse made the short trip to the Northfield Mt. Herman campus to play the neighboring Hoggers. On the varsity side, the game proved to be a back-and-forth match-up as both sides exchanged goals, however with under a minute left to play in the game Bailey Cheetham scored the game winner to secure the 11-10 victory for the Big Green. The JV squad again took an early lead over their opponent and did not look back as they defeated the Hoggers 13-2. Eight members of the JV squad contributed goals in yesterday’s outing.
