Congratulations to our first winter term Athletes of the Week!
Boys Varsity Squash – Max Geraci
Max, playing for the first time on the varsity at number seven, solidified our victory over Hotchkiss in winning the fourth match! He handled the pressure- great job!
Girls JV Hockey – Katie Whalen ‘18
Katie is a new and talented addition to the girl’s JV hockey team. She is a good skater and confident puck handler and proved herself to be an offensive threat in our first game against NMH. Katie played a big role in our 10-1 victory as she scored three goals in the first period and two goals in the second. We congratulate Katie on a great start to her season and look forward to her continued strong play as we face off with Westminster and Williston this week.
Boys V Hockey – Seth Reinhard ‘17
Seth scored the first goal of our season and changed the momentum of the game. He logged valuable minutes, worked hard in all three zones, and helped shut down some of Groton’s top offensive threats. Not only was it the team’s first goal of the season, but it was Seth’s first goal as a member of the Big Green. Congratulations, Seth!
Girls Varsity Hockey – Seniors (Meghan Halloran, Jenna Greenbaum, Libby Wenners, Shai Lineberry, and Livi Messina)
Our athletes of the week are our five Seniors: Meghan Halloran, Jenna Greenbaum, Libby Wenners, Shai Lineberry, and Livi Messina. They have done a wonderful job thus far of setting a positive and healthy tone for our large team, and have consistently led the way in terms of work ethic on the ice and team-first attitude in the locker room. Our team dynamic feels especially strong for so early in the season, and these five athletes deserve a lot of the credit for that fact.
Boys JV Squash – Brian Davis ‘17
Brian Davis played fantastic squash and was our lone victor on Saturday, 12/3 vs. Hotchkiss. Brian returned to the courts after a year’s hiatus. He played great squash after having only hit the squash ball once since last February!
Girls Varsity Basketball – Erin Tudryn ‘18
Our athlete of the week is Erin Tudryn ’18. Erin is new to Deerfield and our team this year, but has made a seamless transition. She comes to practice focused and ready to work hard every day. In our two scrimmages, she has proven to be a fundamentally sound player who does not let pressure rattle her. Against Williams, she controlled the pace of the game, scored 17 points and dished out numerous assists to her teammates. We look forward to more strong play from Erin this season!
Boys Varsity Swimming – Zach Seibold ’18, Marco Marsans ’18, Owen Louis ‘19
A trio of new varsity swimmers made a solid impact for the boys in their home-opening victory over Milton. Zach Seibold ’18 held off his assigned competition in both of his events; Marco Marsans ’18 hacked 5 seconds off his lifetime best in the 200 free and bolstered his relays; and Owen Louis ’19 posted strong efforts in the two longest and toughest events (200 IM and 500 Free).
