The Deerfield Boys’ Thirds squash team stepped onto the court against Eaglebrook for the second time with determination, despite being shorthanded and missing their usual number 2 player. While Eaglebrook ultimately secured a 6-3 victory, Deerfield’s top seeds delivered impressive performances, refusing to let the match go without a fight.
At the number 2 spot, Aaron set the tone with a commanding 3-0 victory. Jonathan, the number 3 seed, added to Deerfield’s success with another strong 3-0 triumph, dominating his opponent and giving Deerfield a much-needed boost. After several matches that Eaglebrook clinched, the final match-up were the number one players from both teams. Carter, at the top spot, ended the match with a gutsy 3-2 effort, battling through five intense games to clinch a hard-earned win.
While the overall result didn’t swing in Deerfield’s favor, the team showed flashes of brilliance, and the top seeds proved their mettle under pressure. With a little more depth and some time to regroup, Deerfield will surely be ready for a rematch. Onward and upward!
