On Saturday, the varsity volleyball team opened the season by hosting Austin Prep and NMH, emerging with a pair of 2-0 wins.

Deerfield’s serving looked a little rusty in the first set against Austin Prep which made for a tight set before the Big Green was able to pull out the set win in front of a nice home crowd. In the second set, Deerfield was able to push out to a lead and maintain it for the set, with Sophia Govi ‘28 coming in to serve the last few points and take the match win.

After a break while NMH faced Austin Prep, it was now Deerfield’s turn to line up against the Hoggers and Deerfield came out right away and established their rhythm and comfort in the gym. Everyone saw court time including some nice blocks from Harmoni Dobbins ‘26 and great hitting from Evelyn Kunde ‘26 and Georgia Ball ‘25.

Next Saturday, we travel to Cambridge to face BB&N and Sacred Heart (two playoff teams from last year). First serve against BB&N is at 11:30am followed by our match against Sacred Heart.
