The Girls JV Volleyball Team faced a formidable opponent in Loomis on Wednesday, ultimately falling in a hard-fought four-set match. Loomis’ tough serving made it difficult for Deerfield to establish consistent momentum, but the team remained resilient, battling in every set.
Selin Aksoy anchored the offense with an impressive 22 assists, setting up opportunities throughout the match. Travis Gerst once again showcased her all-around skills, contributing four kills and two aces. Karen Park stepped up as libero, expertly handling Loomis’ challenging serves with precision. Her stellar passing and point-saving digs helped extend crucial rallies for the team.
In the front row, middle blockers Gigi Selvig and Katie Mountz made their presence known with strong net play and combined for 10 aces. Senior captain Devon Coleman and sophomore Blake Coleman also powered the offense, each racking up 10 kills to keep Deerfield competitive.
While the result didn’t fall in their favor, the team showed determination and flashes of excellence, setting the stage for future success.
