The girls varsity team traveled to Taft for their second road game of the season. The Big Green did not waste any time and inked the scoresheet only three minutes into the game when Magda Curylo ’26 played a through ball to Eleanor DuPont ‘26 who drove the flank and served a ball into the 18 yard box past the Taft goalkeeper. Olivia Austen ‘27 raced her defender to the front post and buried the ball into the back of the net to put the Big Green up 1-0.
The Rhinos pressed to try to create their own chances but the Big Green defense held strong through great individual 1v1 defending and collective as a unit. The Doors continued to create more scoring chances, like the shots from Cori Scagel ‘25, Magda and Minjoo Serhant ’27
At the half, the score remained 1-0 in favor of the Big Green. As the second half ticked down, the Rhinos were throwing several players forward in hopes of gaining the equalizing goal, but Ellie Schiller ’25 intercepted all of the Rhino corner kicks in goal and the Big Green backline were disciplined and fended off any potential chances.
It took a collective group effort to earn today’s victory and the Big Green should be proud of their team effort and victory.
The Big Green return to action this Saturday, 9/28 at home against Pomfret. Kick off is set for 2pm.
