Deerfield boys varsity soccer played Suffield Academy’s boys varsity squad. The game was different from the boys first two games of the season since there was a lot less scoring in the opening minutes. The boys had a lot of chances but Suffield was first to get on the board to start the match off of a free kick. However, Deerfield scored a goal with two minutes left in the first half. On a corner, Felix Alfaro ‘27 scored on a volley and slipped it into the top of the net right by the box. The second half was a tense and physical match. Many Deerfield students came out to the game and were a loud and rowdy crowd. Deerfield had many chances in the second half but came up short including a missed penalty kick from captain Jonny Scagel ‘25. After the missed penalty, Suffield was able to earn two penalty kicks in the last 10 minutes and scored both, taking the green down 3-1 and ending the game with a loss for the Green.
