Deerfield boys varsity soccer clashed with the Salisbury Knights on a sunny Saturday afternoon, in a setting overlooking the beautiful hills of northwestern Connecticut. Felix Alfaro ’27 didn’t wait too long to score Deerfield’s first goal within 10 minutes. Shortly after, Stefan Flaska ’28 finessed a couple of defenders in the box before striking a shot to the right of the goalkeeper. The score remained 0-2 to the half.
With momentum coming into the second half, Deerfield scored another two. At 10 minutes into the second half, Jack Dvorin ‘25 moved around a defender at the edge of the box before slotting a beautiful shot in the top right corner to make it 3-0 Deerfield. 7 minutes later, Salisbury scored off of a restart 20 yards from the goal, making it 1-3. Not too long after a couple of close chances, Jonny Scagel ‘25 scored a low and accurate shot to make it 4-0 for Deerfield. Finally, just a few minutes later, captain Jonny Scagel concluded the scoring with a final goal from a ricochet off of his hip. The game was a great win for the program. Boys varsity soccer is on a hot streak looking to take down Suffield next Wednesday.
