Soccer (Boys): Junior B vs. Westminster School (09/21/24 2:00 PM)

Event Details

On Saturday, September 21st, the boys junior B footballers traveled to Simsbury CT to face the Westminster School looking to build on the momentum from the first win of the year. The squad was down several players and only had three subs for the match, as opposed to Westy, which fielded two complete sides. Deerfield played a complete game on both sides of the ball and came out with a 6-0 victory to raise their record to 2-0 on the season.

Deerfield didn’t waste any time taking the lead, when Marty Pastor ’28 poked home a cross from Emmett Aho ’27 in the 2nd minute for a 1-0 lead. Six minutes later, co-captain Cole Higgins ’26 wove through the defense and found the back of the net after a brilliant individual effort in the 8th minute for a 2-0 lead. Play was relatively even for the next 10 minutes, although Westy never seriously threatened the Deerfield goal, before stopper Tucker Sichol ’27 scored his first goal of the season on a long-range effort in the 20th minute. Four minutes later, with the Westy keeper inexplicably out of the goal after a run downfield, Pastor scored his second goal of the half and the season in the 24th minute to increase the lead to 4-0. Pastor completed the hat trick just before the half-time whistle to stake Deerfield to a comfortable 5-0 lead. In the 2nd half, Westy had a great look at goal in the 46th minute, but somehow managed to put the ball well over the crossbar. Higgins scored his 5th goal of the season in the 49th minute to complete the scoring in the 6-0 win. Magnus Selvig ’26 and late sub Coleman Keller ’28 combined for the clean sheet in goal. Quad Squad will be back in action on Wednesday, September 25th with a 3:30 pm match on the lower fields against local rival Eaglebrook School.
