Tennis (Girls): Varsity vs. Loomis Chaffee School (05/04/24 3:00 PM)

Event Details

Deerfield hit the road to nearby Windsor, CT for a Saturday tilt with Loomis Chaffee this weekend. With absolutely perfect weather, the team was ready for a day of competitive tennis. Green got off to a hot start, sweeping all three doubles matches. Deerfield’s doubles pairs are really coming into their own down the stretch. This coach lost count of the number of net winners and beautifully-placed ground strokes during doubles play.

Singles delivered more positive results for Deerfield as well as some compelling exchanges. Kate MacKenzie turned her match around in marathon fashion after dropping a lopsided first set to her opponent. Kate punched back to win the second set 6-4 and then delivered a decisive third set, tie breaker win!

Avery Brooker’s second singles match also went to three sets. Avery’s persistence and hustle cannot be overstated. While she surrendered a very close tie break in the third set, Avery played tremendously and didn’t flinch for a moment throughout this back and forth battle.

Deerfield evens their record at 5-5 and will be home again on Wednesday for a meeting with Northfield Mount Hermon.
