The Deerfield boys JV tennis team (2-5) survived a bear walking through the pre-match introductions to defeat the Westminster School on May 1st on the road. The matches were all played in an 8-game, pro-set format without ads and doubles and the 5 and 6 singles matches began simultaneously. The doubles matches together counted as one point, so there were a total of 7 points in the match. Deerfield won 2 out of the 3 doubles matches to win that point, while the first two singles matches were split. As the top four seeds began singles play, Deerfield only needed to split the four to win the overall match. Fortunately, they won three of the four to win the overall match 5-2.
